Workshop: Retaining and Sustaining Diverse Educators
Is your leadership team working to improve educator retention in your school or district?
Join the Illinois Affinity Group Network and expert practitioner, Dr. Andrea Terrero Gabbadon, in an exploration of practical strategies and practices school and district leaders can implement to support and retain diverse teachers.
During this hour-long workshop, we will:
✅ Develop clarity on the research and data regarding educator attrition
✅ Identify specific strategies and practices that result in educator retention
Additionally, participants will receive resources and a guidebook for building belonging through affinity spaces.
Why join us?
📊Teachers who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color leave Illinois schools at a higher rate, not because they lack commitment, but because the culture among school/district staff is unsupportive. The good thing is, this isn’t a fixed state.

Learning Forward Annual Conference
This year’s conference theme, Bridging Professional Learning and Student Success, continues a path that started several years ago. In 2025, we will again make that explicit connection between educator learning and student success. We know that as educators, we are learners first, and as we continue to grow in our practice, all students will experience great teaching and learning every day.
Facing Race Conference
Facing Race is the nation’s largest multiracial, intergenerational racial justice conference. This biennially, one-of-a-kind space serves as a vital intersection where community organizers, activists, and movement makers converge to build power and strategies to advance racial justice. The conference provides attendees unprecedented access to resources, information, and collaborative opportunities geared towards advancing racial equity for all.
BEAC
The Black Educational Advocacy Coalition (BEAC) was developed to improve the school experiences of Black students and educators by discovering and embracing the knowledge of themselves and generating equitable experiences that lead to student and educator success. This year BEAC is hosting their 4th annual Equity conference. School boards, administrators, and teachers will join together to engage in learning and conversation with keynote speakers and in meeting sessions.
