LOVEWORKS Joy & Justice Leadership Development Retreat
The LOVEWORKS: Joy & Justice Leadership Development Retreat is a transformative 3-day, in-person experience that invites IEA members to grow as equity-centered leaders. Designed primarily for emerging activists who are ready to foster their commitment to racial and social justice. Through deep reflection, historical context, and hands-on training, participants will explore the foundations of educational justice, abolitionist teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy. They will also gain tools to lead equity-focused conversations in their classrooms, buildings, and broader communities, which will increase member engagement and activism to effect equity & excellence in public education.

NIU Social Justice Summer Camp
The Social Justice Summer Camp is an annual offering that is designed to bring together teams of new and returning educators to the issues of pedagogies and practices beneficial for all students. Educators will engage in interactive opportunities to discuss equity and justice issues, both general and specific to their schools, with experts and colleagues, as well as time for individual reflection and group activities.

BEAC
The Black Educational Advocacy Coalition (BEAC) was developed to improve the school experiences of Black students and educators by discovering and embracing the knowledge of themselves and generating equitable experiences that lead to student and educator success. This year BEAC is hosting their 4th annual Equity conference. School boards, administrators, and teachers will join together to engage in learning and conversation with keynote speakers and in meeting sessions.
